Captured by the Egyptians and made a slave to Princess Amneris, {the Ethiopian princess} Aida falls in love with the handsome military captain Radames, who returns her devotion, spurning the advances of Amneris. When her father is also seized by the Egyptians, Aida tricks Radames into revealing an escape route. In a jealous rage, Amneris brands Radames a traitor and sends him to his death in a sealed tomb.
