Captioned Media Program
Free video lending library funded by U.S. Department of Education and administered by the National Association of the Deaf.  Videos are "open-captioned", meaning no special decoder needed.  Print and online catalog available with over 4000 videos touching a wide variety of topics.  Useful for persons with a hearing loss of all ages.  Videos are delivered to school or home and may be kept up to one week before returned (postage prepaid).

The mission of Baltimore Reads is to improve the quality of life for educationally disadvantaged adults, children, and families. They emphasize strong reading, basic and life skill proficiencies essential for continuous learning, employment, and self-sufficiency.

The Center for the Book
A department at the Library of Congress, The Center for the Book was established to stimulate public interest in books, reading, and libraries and to encourage the study of books and print culture. Within the Library of Congress, the Center is a focal point for celebrating the legacy of books and the printed word. Outside the Library, the Center works closely with other organizations to foster understanding of the vital role of books, reading, libraries and literacy in society.

Clearinghouse on Elementary and Early Childhood Education (ERIC)

District of Columbia Public Library

International Reading Association (IRA)

National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
